The Man Behind Astoria Assisted Living
I’ve always been involved predominately in senior’s activities since my childhood. Most of my friends have been older than me.
In 1973 I was graduated as Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy; which particularly provided me with an opportunity to work closely with elderly . My passion in rehabilitation and working with elderly continued and was able to obtain a Master of Science in physical therapy in 1975 from Long Island University in New York.
After working for one year in Physical Therapy in New York; in 1976 I moved to Florida and continued working with home care, nursing homes, hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation centers focused on working with seniors.
In 1982 I have graduated from school of medicine as Medical Doctor. I did my Medical internship at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida in 1993. In 1997 I was wanting to move back to Jacksonville, Florida. Orange Park Hospital invited me to come and visit the area and hospital where I stayed at the local Holiday Inn, which is now known as Astoria Assisted Living.
While in Jacksonville and Orange Park; I continued with my medical projects and educations. Became Diplomat of American Board of International Pain, also became Board eligible in Sleep Medicine and continued my medical practice in three different locations, 2 in Duval and one in Clay County. As I visited my mother daily at St. Vincent’s Hospital I spoke to her about moving her to my Assisted Living Community Astoria.
Taking care of my elderly parents for many years, my genuine love and care for seniors since my younger age and treating them more than 40 years made me best fitted to anticipate care and need for seniors. My continued caring, loving, planning, rehabilitation of seniors is why I turned an Orange Park landmark where I once stayed into Astoria Assisted Living.
As a senior now I like to put myself other seniors shoes and ask myself what is important to me as it pertains to an Assisted Living Community. Astoria Assisted Living was built with my mother and all seniors in mind.
